Summary and Outlook
Reduction of the furnace exit gas temperature is of main importance to reduce slagging in the first convection heating surfaces and to increase the efficiency of the steam generator. Therefore the optimised, defined and on demand cleaning of furnace is an important factor to control these targets. In recent years the Clyde Bergemann Water Cannon Technology has been proved successfully as a flexible tool for targeted and effective cleaning of the furnace walls – in particular for steam generators which are fired with lignite and bituminous coal. Through the addition of the sensor-based furnace optimisation system, these flexible cleaning instruments are used in accordance with the individual real time operation requirements of the boiler.
This complete Furnace Management System is the combined and integrated solution with Water Cannons and sensor based selective on-demand control – it is also called Intelligent Sootblowing. This enables effective and demand-oriented On-Load cleaning of the evaporator heating surface, especially for combustion of lower ranked coal with a broad variation of characteristics. This solution leads to the significant increase of operating safety and to the reduction of operating costs for coal-fired steam generators.
Moreover, these measures result into a significant reduction of boiler emissions. Because the overall reduced temperature level in the furnace cares as primary measure for a reduction of the NOx emissions. In addition, the CO2 emission is reduced through the increased boiler efficiency.
